Postcards From the Travel Goddesses

Dear Ingrid,

Oh, sometimes I get this feeling in me, and I just don't know what to make of it. I'm sure there are things in every life you kind of wish you could do over. Not so much for being really embarrassed, but more like you'll look back and not quite recognize the woman in the picture. But then I think about you, and all that you faced, and my silly regrets become nothing.

Ingey, you said you didn't really feel regret, but how could that be true? Didn't you wish you had spent more days and nights on the beach? Didn't you wish you had ridden more rollercoasters? Didn't you want to try jumping out of airplanes or something silly like that? And more: Didn't you long for more travels? More love? Maybe even a child? What did you think about when you were lying in that bed with your hair falling out and your pretty skin turned pale and sallow? I know it was important not to waste your energies worrying, but I wish I knew, with the perspective that you gained, what it was that you yearned for.

It's the biggest regret in my life that I'll never know.

-Love, Monney
