Inspired

1009-6471

Once in a while, you come across a person, or a place, or a thing that captures your imagination. And, frankly, most things don’t. Most things really aren’t that interesting. Or inspiring. The best we can hope for in this life is to grab onto a few of the good ones and hold them close.

It would have taken so little to get back what she had lost. A few steps in a better direction. A phonecall or two. A simple, heartfelt apology. She knew it wasn’t a high price, but for some reason, it was one that Janet was never able to pay.

Downstream

0905-7078

There’s this dream I keep having. You’re swimming in a river, fighting a current that’s too fast for you. You could easily save yourself, just by relaxing and floating downstream to calmer waters and then swimming either to my side or the opposite bank, but for some reason you keep trying to swim upstream. When I yell this suggestion to you, our eyes catch like you understand, but you keep on fighting against the water. The river keeps pulling you under, wearing you down to nothing.
