We’re trying our best to make ourselves at home, but it’s not like any of us really belong here. We wake up each day and play the part of belonging, but it’s all just acting.

Ellen’s looking into the small town faces floating past her car window. Right before her eyes, both the people and the houses grow older and begin to sag a little. Soon enough, North Carolina will reclaim them all.
